Sustainable process for converting biomass into high-value fibers

Creating a sustainable process for converting biomass into high-value fibers and demonstrating the practical, market-ready applications of these fibers in Buchi kiloclave.

Reactor: kiloclave type 3E, 2 liter
Material: stainless steel
Temperature: 250°C

The Bio-LUSH initiative, supported by CBE-JU, focuses on converting underexplored plant materials found throughout Europe into useful fibers. By harnessing the innate qualities of hemp, forest waste, nettles, and seagrasses, the project develops sustainable raw materials for a variety of applications.

Through innovative processing techniques, Bio-LUSH converts these resources into high-quality fibers, ready for integration into new, eco-friendly products. This work not only serves the market demand for sustainable materials but also supports rural economies and contributes to environmental conservation efforts.

Main areas of research:
“Creating a sustainable process for converting biomass into high-value fibers and demonstrating the practical, market-ready applications of these fibers. Our Büchiglas equipment allows us to conduct highly corrosive pulping reactions at elevated temperatures and high pressures, safely and reliably. Additionally, Büchiglas has been offering fast, friendly and solution-oriented customer service, which is vital for frictionless progress towards project deadlines.”
